Isha Basant Joshi (born 31 December 1908) was born Isha Basant Mukand and published books under the name of Esha Joshi. She was the first woman to be accepted as an officer in the Indian Administrative Service in Independent India. She was also the first “Indian” to be accepted into the “Bastion of the British” school of La Martiniere Girls High School in Lucknow, India.

While Isha Basant Joshi was First IAS of Independent India, Anna Rajam Malhotra was the first female Indian Administrative Service officer of India.
